A Political Note
There is a considerable difference between the two tourism models at work in Myanmar. One model consists of large tourism concerns with huge contracts working with the ruling military regime, moving thousands of tourists through an itinerary of state-run institutions. The other, road-less-traveled way features small, grassroots organizations that carefully and methodically work to ensure that any money or investment in the country remains at the local level. Our company represents the latter model.
